How do I connect to the VPN from a Windows PC?
You must first create the VPN connection
Note: you will have to run this anytime Windows is upgraded (generally twice per year)
- Download the Create VPN Connections script
- If it won't download above, try this zip but you will have to extract the script and run it manually
- It is safe to run this anytime
- If Chrome asks, choose Keep
- If IE asks, choose Save
- Run the script
- If you get a Windows Protected your PC security warning window
- Click More Info
- Click Run Anyway
- Choose the location where your account is defined
- Ask Jesus for the preshared key
Now, you can connect to the office computers
- Open the Action Center and click on the VPN Block
- The Action Center can be opened by clicking on the notification icon at the bottom-right corner immediately to the right of the clock
- If you only see 4 blocks, click Expand
- Click on the appropriate MRBK and then Connect
- If there is more than one, try one and then the other. Once you know which one works on your machine, use the same one next time.
- Enter your entire email address into the username field
- Enter your current OTP into the password field
- Open Remote Desktop Connection from the Start Menu
- Enter Server-Remote2016.Monterey.mcgilloway-ray.com or Server-Remote.Salinas.mcgilloway-ray.com as desired
- Login using your full email address as your username and your “regular” password
- To disconnect, return to the VPN block in the Action Center
Remember, you can also connect to your office workstation or the directly to the network too.
