A Machine is still using Offline Folders when actually online

This happens mostly when using an Always-On Portable Router because your machine does not realize it is really connected to the office network (it thinks it is connecting to your home network).

To tell your computer that you are actually online

  1. Open File Explorer and browse to the location that is not accessible
    • For example, \\server-file2019.monterey.mrbkcpa.com\Public - No DFS
    • Don’t worry if it appears that all of your files are gone
  2. Click Easy Access and then Work Offline (to return to working online)
    • A blue background beneath the icon to the left indicates you are working offline
    • If you can’t find Easy Access, make sure you are on the Home tab
