The always-on router is not intended to allow you to run apps locally (even though it does) but to omit the need of bringing a laptop into the office to synchronize it with the server. It does eliminate the need to connect to the VPN each time you want to connect but the best experience is still to use the remote desktop protocol.
An always-on router is available for the following purposes:
- At a client’s location that blocks Windows standard VPN connections
- At a remote location where one or more employees will be working for an extended period of time
- No more than 6
- For an employee who works primarily from home
Things to remember when using an always-on router
- Each router is specifically assigned to one person and that person must be vigilant in keeping it safe
- Notify Jesus and Lonny immediately if a router assigned to you is lost or stolen
- Return the router if it becomes unnecessary
- In other words, return it if you are not using it at least once each week
To use an always-on router, simply plug it into power and an active wired Ethernet port. Once it is powered up, it will broadcast an MRBK WiFi signal that will provide direct access to the office network. Once connected, you can remote into any machine or print to any printer. If you are using a computer/laptop that requires you to sign in using your work email and password, you may even be able to launch network applications directly.
You will not need to enter your two-factor authentication code when connected to this MRBK wireless network which is why it is so important that you keep track of the router at all times. Of course, in order to access anything, you will still need to sign in using your email address and password like you normally do.
